Why? The "basic" D&D is out of print, so there was nothing for AD&D to be "advanced" from. And in case you are curious, as of the 3rd Edition the "Advanced" in AD&D is being dropped. There are several upcoming 3rd Edition rules games - namely Neverwinter Nights and Pool of Radiance II: Ruins of Myth Drannor. 3rd Edition Note: This document works mostly for the 2nd Edition ruleset. So the purpose of this document is to explain these concepts to people who aren't familiar with the AD&D ruleset. What is THAC0? What is AC? How does magic work?
